Alice
Adams
d. Jan 1, 2022
ADAMS, Alice (Joseph) of Lexington passed away peacefully on January 1, 2022 at the age of 97. Alice was part of a large and loving family, including her late husband, Adam A. Adams, her loving son James R. Adams and James' wife Margaret of Pocasset, her son and caregiver Dennis J. Adams of Lexington, and her cherished daughter who predeceased her, Linda L. Ormiston and Linda's late husband Stephen of Lexington. Alice was also the loving sister of Lillian Kawa and the late Stella Joseph. Many people were blessed to call Alice their Grandma: Kristen Adams, Kerry Truax, Melissa Lariviere and her husband Russell Lariviere, Shawn Ormiston and his wife Amanda Ormiston, the late James A. Adams Sr. and James R. Adams Jr. Alice was blessed with five great grandchildren as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Alice was originally from South Boston and truly maintained her roots to the area, keeping her membership in the Holy Trinity Albanian Orthodox Church for her entire life, even after she later moved to the Winter Hill section of Somerville and then, in 1959, to Lexington. Alice and the Adams family owned and operated Scribner's Market, a grocery store and a local institution in Lexington Center. Later, Lexington residents knew her friendly face from her decades-long employment at Busa Liquors, where she worked right up to the age of 84.
Never one to stay put, Alice loved to travel - especially to New York City - and she once embarked on a 30 day cross country bus tour trip. Whether she was making her legendary lasagna or Albanian pie, finding optimism in a scratch ticket, or hosting a large family gathering at Orthodox Easter or Christmas, her smiling face and gracious manner was beloved by her family and everyone in the community. To say that Alice will be missed is truly an understatement and to think that she will ever be forgotten is an impossibility.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 29 Crafts Street, Suite 100, Newton, MA 02458 or at www.arthritis.org.
Funeral services will be private. Interment will be at Westview Cemetery Lexington with arrangements under the direction of The Douglass Funeral Home in Lexington 781-862-1800 . www.douglassfh.com
