Alice Ann May, 94, December 23, 2010 died peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family at her residence at Carleton-Willard, Bedford, MA. Devoted wife of the late Richard W. May, they were residents of Lexington, MA for over 50 years.
She is survived by her children, Eric May and wife Susan of Norfolk MA, Kathleen McClain and husband John of Brookline, MA, Joyce Kirk of Peabody, MA, Douglas May and wife Christine of Melrose MA, Susan Aygarn and husband Michael of Orrington, ME. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren: Aaron and Jennifer May, Andrew May (and wife,Anne), Eva May, James and Richard McClain.
Born in Topsham, ME. Alice received her RN at Maine Medical Hospital. After marrying Dick they lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa before moving to Lexington, MA in 1948. She worked as a nurse for the late Dr. Vincent Treat in Lexington for 15 years. In the Lexington community, Alice was an active member of the Lexington Garden Club and Lexington Historical Society.
Alice's spiritual and social life was closely intertwined with her church family at Hancock Congregational Church in Lexington, MA. As a long-time member, Alice served in many capacities, most notably as deacon, usher and Sunday School teacher.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Thursday, December 30th at 10 a.m. at Hancock Congregational Church, Mass Avenue, Lexington, MA. Burial will be private.
