Ann
Hruby
d. Dec 29, 2023
HRUBY, Ann (Stanger) Age 95, of Lexington, MA passed away peacefully on December 29 after a brief illness. Ann was born in Montreal, Quebec in 1928. She spent her childhood in Montreal with her parents Stanley and Rebecca and her brother Donald. When Ann married Albert Hruby in 1949, they first lived in Newton. In 1953, they moved to Lexington. While raising their children, Jerry and Karen, Ann worked part-time in the office of Diamond Middle School. As young parents in Lexington, Ann and Al made many cherished and lifelong friends.
For the last 10 years, Ann has been happily living at Brookhaven, a residential community in Lexington. There, she enjoyed participating in many activities—including twice-weekly bridge games— with her new-found friends. In addition, she was a member of a knitting group who knitted items for the elderly and the military. Her wonderful friends and the stellar Brookhaven staff supported Ann through some recent health challenges. Her family is thankful for their loving care.
Ann was predeceased by her husband Al, her son Jerry, and her brother Don Stanger. She is survived and will be greatly missed by her daughter Karen Hruby and her partner Jerry Stokes of Lexington and Newport, VT; her daughter-in-law Amy Helfer and husband Steve of Needham, MA; her adored grandchildren Robin McManus and her Partner Shai Sachs of Newton, MA; Sam McManus and his wife Ashley of Denver, Colorado; Janna Hruby of Manchester, NH; Erica Hruby of Oakland, CA; and David Helfer of Brockton, MA; five adorable great grandsons; her sister-in-law Armgard Stanger of Montreal, Quebec; her niece Sylvia; her nephew Derek; and many close friends.
Her family is grateful to have had Ann in good health and spirits this last Christmas.
Donations may be made in Ann's memory to MSPCA-Angell, Attn: Donations, 350 S. Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02130. Services will be private.
