Anna Wiederhold's Obituary
WIEDERHOLD, Anna J (Enny), 92, of Lexington MA, passed away of natural causes on January 12, 2018. She was born in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on September 21, 1925. After growing up in occupied Rotterdam during World War II she studied nursing, specializing in Maternity and Obstetrics. In 1954 she traveled alone to America as part of a nursing exchange program and worked at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. She married Pieter Wiederhold a few years later and left nursing to raise a family in Lexington. When her three sons were grown, she began working at Leader Savings Bank in Lexington as a Teller and later moved to the New Accounts department. In 1991, she returned to Brigham and Women's as a volunteer in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. It is here that she was nicknamed the "Baby Whisperer" and was profiled on an NBC Nightly News "Making a Difference" segment for her ability to quiet and comfort babies. She was also recognized as Volunteer of the Year by the hospital. Enny is survived by her three sons and their spouses: Ed Wiederhold and Jennifer of Tewksbury MA, Robert Wiederhold and Melinda of Los Gatos CA, and Conrad Wiederhold and Marianne of Melvin Village NH. She was also grandmother to Jenna, Emily, Michael, Krista, Julie, Rick and Allison. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 20 at 10:00 AM in the Auditorium at Brookhaven, 1010 Waltham Street in Lexington MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Brigham and Women's Hospital,
