Anne Melinda LeCompte Fisher passed away peacefully on January 6th 2025 in her home in Lexington, at the age of 80. She was born in 1944 to Jean and Philip Medford LeCompte in New Haven, CT, and grew up in Newton, MA.

Anne is survived by her husband William R. Fisher, her children Katherine and William, Katherine's spouse Frederick Martin, her grandchildren Fritz and Elizabeth Martin, her brother Andrew LeCompte and his wife Brenda Asis, in-laws Susan Fisher, Sara Doucette, and Gary Leavitt, niece Alex Doucette and Alex's husband Hrothgar Lane. She was predeceased by brother Anthony Walker LeCompte, nephew Evan Charles LeCompte and daughter in law Shannon Fitzgerald Connolly.

Anne received her Bachelor's from Carleton College in Minnesota, and her Master's in Social Work from Simmons College, and was a social worker at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston Public Schools, The Dimock Center in Roxbury, Park Avenue Nursing Home in Arlington, and the Arlington Council on Aging. At MGH, she specialized in work with kidney transplant and dialysis patients. Her later community work included early intervention programs with children and families. In the second half of her career she focused on caring for elderly people, and continued to volunteer with FriendshipWorks and participate in Lexington at Home after she retired.

She cared deeply about other people, was very sensitive to people's feelings and needs, and had a great sense of humor. She loved literature, and continued to read widely until the end of her life. She was a member of Fresh Pond Friends Meeting (Quakers), and volunteered with the Lexington Global Warming Action Committee. She enjoyed visiting the family cottage at Sampson Pond in the Adirondacks, attending concerts of the Handel and Haydn Society, and hosting family gatherings. Over the years, she hosted many large Thanksgivings, and many, many birthday parties. In her last years, she had lost some of her speaking ability, but still beamed with joy when she was with her family, especially her young grandchildren.

Private interment at Gale Cemetery Piercefield, NY. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
