Anneliese Leonhard Cowan

Lexington-Anneliese Leonhard Cowan, born in Stuttgart, Germany, and resident of Lexington died on the morning of Oct 30, 2023. She was married for 60 years to her beloved late husband James (Jim) Jones Cowan III who died in December 2017.

Anne is survived by her daughter, Christina (Cowan) Sym and her husband John of Lexington and her son, Chris Cowansage and his wife Melissa of Washington DC. She also was fortunate to have five grandchildren and three great grandchildren, Kelsey and her husband Roy with daughter Zoey of Waltham; Tyler of Denver, CO; Kiriana and her husband Bryce of Jefferson, MD; Corydon and her husband Michael with daughter Neve of Millbrook, NY; and Cadran and her husband Aaron with son Dylan of Oakland, CA and Carmel, NY,

Anne Cowan devoted her 95 years to her close knit family and to the pursuit of artistic expression. She started her life-long passion in watercolor in Germany as an art student and would later study and exhibit in the Lexington and Boston area. She had a deep interest in the study of language, meditation, music and the contemplation of nature which informed her visual expression in painting.

A Memorial Service will be held December 1st, 2023 at 1 PM at Pilgrim Congregational Church, 55 Coolidge Avenue in Lexington. A reception will follow the service at the church. All are cordially invited to attend.
