SILVA, AnNett McGee 63, died unexpectedly on November 10, 2014, in Winchester, Massachusetts. Born January 8, 1951, in Philadelphia, PA, she earned degrees from Northeastern University and Southern Connecticut State University, and pursued coursework toward a Ph.D. at Columbia University. AnNett spent her working life as an educator, both as a teacher and an administrator in the field of Special Education. In this capacity she served as a mentor and an inspiration to many, and her legacy lives on in the lives and work of those she influenced. Though challenged for much of her life by psychological and physical burdens that eventually became too much to bear, AnNett was passionate about helping others, and when able she devoted her significant talents and energies to making life better for those around her. AnNett was a force of nature--strong-willed, opinionated, and sharp-tongued--but she had the biggest heart and a keen desire to right society's wrongs, both big and small. AnNett knew life could be unfair--but that didn't mean she had to accept it, and she fought hard for others to the end. At peace now, AnNett will be deeply missed by all of those whose lives she touched during her own too-short life. AnNett is survived by her mother, Sue Watson of Lexington, and her father, Richard Silva of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and by her siblings: Georgette Silva and her wife Camilla Lindan of Mill Valley, California; Richard Silva and his wife Jennifer of Cleveland, Ohio; and Bill Silva and his wife Anna Crawford of West Hartford, Connecticut. AnNett also leaves behind her four cherished nieces and nephews, Pia Crawford-Silva, Charlie Crawford-Silva, Lily Silva, and Sam Silva. A memorial service is planned for a later date.
