Obituary

Arthur Edward Pennell was born 10/17/1958 and died 6/15/2026 at the age of 67 after a difficult illness. His parents were Arthur J. and SaraSue Pennell. He is survived by his mother, SaraSue Pennell of Lexington MA, his brother, Thomas H. Pennell and Thomas' wife Marilyn DeAngelis Pennell of Littleton MA, and his sister Elizabeth S. Pennell of Maynard MA.

Arthur was a life long Lexington resident, attending the Lexington schools until programs for him ended, after which he went to the School for Special Learning in Wayland MA.

He was born with a movement disorder of unknown etiology which progressed during his life time. When the medicine Artane was tried for him, he called it the ArtTamer and it was used for the rest of his life. Although seriously dyslexic, he had a huge vocabulary and a way with puns and jokes.

Arthur had many challenges, but led an active life. He loved speeding on a three wheel adult trike through his Merriam Hill neighborhood. Earlier he had driven a motor bike, also as fast as possible. When he finally acquired a walker he was reminded it was a walker not a runner.

Arthur always liked having a job. He worked for several years at the Stop & Shop in Lexington, where he enjoyed his job of shagging carts.

He made friends always, wherever he was.

Arthur was a member of Friends Meeting at Cambridge. There will be a memorial meeting for him Saturday August 8, at 2:00 PM at the meeting house at 5 Longfellow Park in Cambridge, MA. All are welcome.

Donations may be made in his memory to the Material Aid and Advocacy Program, 5 Longfellow Park, Cambridge, MA 02138.
