Barbara L. Curran, of Barnstable, formerly of Scituate, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025, at the age of 94, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on January 10, 1931, to Robert H. and Helen L. (Comer) Kelm of Mattapan, Barbara was a devoted daughter, partner, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was proud to have grown up in Mattapan, where she enjoyed being close to her extended family.

Barbara graduated from Hyde Park High School and went on to attend the Burdett School of Business. She briefly worked for the U.S. State Department in Washington, D.C., before returning home to her family—and to enjoy the cooler New England summers. After raising her four children, she returned to work in Boston as a legal secretary and executive assistant.

Barbara is survived by her loving partner of 38 years, Chester Wolfe of Barnstable. She leaves behind her beloved children: Mary Roberts of West Roxbury; Helen Brooks and her husband, Jim, of Norwalk, CT; Michael Curran and his wife, Angela, of Natick; and Joanne Kinneen and her husband, Sean, of Lexington.

She was a proud and loving grandmother to Kirstie Esposito and her husband, Mike; Jessica Marshall and her husband, Ian; Joanna Sorensen and her husband, Chris; Liam Kinneen; and Matthew Curran. She was also blessed with one great-granddaughter, Jenna. Barbara is also survived by her dear brother, Richard Kelm and his wife, Carol, of Stoughton, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Beatrice Kelm of Milton, and her sister-in-law, Claire Kelm of Dedham.

Barbara was deeply grateful for the love and support of Chet's family: Scott and Debbie Wolfe, Lee Wolfe, and Sue and Hadi Hazeghazam, along with their children and grandchildren.

In her spare time, Barbara enjoyed sewing, knitting, and reading. She had an endless curiosity and loved researching topics on her computer. She was a sports fan and especially enjoyed watching her grandson's hockey games and, more recently, college baseball games. But most of all, she treasured time spent with family, sharing stories, drinking coffee and enjoying sweets.

Barbara will mostly be remembered for putting others before herself. Whether family, friend, or acquaintance, she had a unique ability to make people feel seen, heard, and valued.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 21, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Brigid Church, 1984 Massachusetts Ave., Lexington. Visiting hours will be held prior to the Mass from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Road, Lexington. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery, Lexington.
