Bernie Osgood passed away after a courageous battle with ALS, surrounded by the love of family and the memories of a life well lived. A proud United States Marine and Vietnam veteran, Bernie carried the values of courage, loyalty, and service throughout his life.

Bernie found joy in life's simple pleasures and greatest adventures. He loved long motorcycle rides with the open road stretching before him and peaceful boat rides on the lake. He was also known for always wanting just one more—whether it was one more cookie, one more beer, one more story, or one more moment spent with the people he loved. That desire to savor life and enjoy every minute reflected the way Bernie lived: appreciating the little things and making the most of every day. Whether exploring new roads or enjoying a quiet day on the water, he created lasting memories wherever he went.

Above all else, Bernie was devoted to his family. He was a loving father to Duane Osgood, Kerri Osgood and Chris Martin, and a caring stepfather to Ashley Slater and Sean McIver. He was also a proud grandfather who cherished each of his five grandchildren: Christian Martin, Sarah Martin, Gio Slater, Mylah Slater, and Nash Slater. Nothing brought him greater happiness than spending time with them, sharing stories, laughter, and his unconditional love.

Bernie's greatest love was his wife, Diane Higgins. Their bond was one of deep devotion, friendship, and unwavering commitment. He loved Diane with all his heart, and while her passing left an immeasurable void, he carried her memory with him every day. It brings comfort to know that Bernie is now reunited with Diane in heaven, together once again.

Bernie is also lovingly remembered by his sister, Catherine Mahoney, and his brother, Gordon "Reggie" Osgood. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Diane Higgins; his son, Duane Osgood; his parents, Alice Lillian Cullivan and Gordon Henry Osgood; and his siblings John "Sonny" Osgood, Shirley Dyffryn, and Donna Carpenter. He treasured the relationships he shared with his family and friends and touched many lives with his warmth, humor, and generous spirit.

Throughout his battle with ALS, Bernie faced each day with the same strength, determination, and resilience that defined his life. His courage in the face of adversity inspired those around him and reflected the character of a man who never stopped fighting for the people and things he loved.

Bernie will be remembered for his strength, his kindness, his sense of adventure, and the love he gave so freely to those around him. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy lives on in his family, in the lessons he taught, and in the countless memories he leaves behind.

May he rest in peace, reunited with the love of his life and forever held in the hearts of those who loved him.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday June 24 at the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd. Lexington at 10am. Visiting Hours Tuesday from 4pm to 7pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Private interment Westview Cemetery, Lexington.
