MARTIGNETTI, Dr. C. Anthony Writer and psychotherapist. Dr. C. Anthony Martignetti died peacefully on Monday, June 22nd at his home in Lexington surrounded by his wife, Laura, and his close friends and family. Piper, his border terrier, was also close by looking for Anthony to give him one final treat. Anthony had lifelong ties to the neighborhood, where he worked, wrote, and had long leisurely daily walks, and spent time with the lunatics and heroes he loved; the folks that made him Peet's coffee, sorted his post office box, deposited his checks at Cambridge Trust, and made sure points were added to his Lexx frequent diner card. He also loved to spend time in Yarmouth Port, the Cape and Islands, and Maine. Anthony was born in Medford on April 16th 1948 to Joe and Jackie. In his first memoir, Anthony's unique and much loved storytelling triggered hilarity and heartbreak in equal measures, with moving tales about his childhood there, his family's business in Boston's North End, and his family move to the ?sticks' of Lexington. He graduated from the Xavier School for Boys, Concord, with fond memories, and went on to receive a bachelor's degree in English at Holy Cross, followed by master's and C.A.G.S. degrees in psychology and counseling at Assumption College. Subsequently, he received an interdisciplinary doctorate in psychology andtheology from Boston Uni-versity, published numerous professional articles, and, among others, presented at the Harvard Medical School and the Institute for Meditation and Psychotherapy. For more than 25 years, Anthony helped countless patients in his office right next to his home. His brand of compassion and caring also made him a mentor, guru, and father-figure to many dear friends. Anthony was a mogul of the local arts scene, and had a great ability to identify and assemble likeminded artists. He founded the Biscuit Box Theater Company and Souled Out Artists writers group, who collectively have been performing acclaimed shows in the Bostonsuburbs since 2002. He wrote and published two collections of memoirs that were endorsed by prominent American and British authors, including Jack Kornfield, Donald Ray Pollock, and his close friends Neil Gaiman and Amanda Palmer. In addition to his wife, Laura Sanford, Anthony is survived by his brother Michael Martignetti, his wife Yvette Beeman and sons David and A.J.; sister Carol Martignetti and her daughters Victoria and Samantha; brother Joseph Martignetti; sister-in-law Nancy Sanford-Blagg, her husband William James Blagg and daughter Danielle; sister-in-law Susan Sanford and her husband Jeff Waynik; brother-in-law John Sanford and his children Ross and Arden; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, and many, many friends.
