Carol (Hoffman) Wood, 66 of Waltham and E. Falmouth, formerly of Lexington and
Belmont, November 12, unexpectedly. Survived by her husband of 43 years, James E.
Wood; sons, Jeff (Nancy) of Monkton, Vt. and Gary (Heather) of Waltham; daughter,
Karen (Scott) Kelly of Framingham; granddaughters, Jessica Kelly and Annalise Wood,
and grandson, Ryan, grand-dog, Tucker; brothers, Richard of Des Moines, IA and Steven
of Columbus, OH. Predeceased by her parents, Richard and Annelise Hoffman and her
infant grandson, Richard W. Wood.
Carol retired as a special educator with the Waltham Public Schools and continued
serving children as a tutor at the Fessenden School Carol maintained an active lifestyle,
playing tennis, cycling, dancing, spending weekends on Cape Cod and traveling with
friends. Carol was an avid knitter, and friends and family cherish her handiwork. Carol
gave special care and compassion to all: family, friends, students, and later, the residents
of Waltham Crossing. To celebrate her life, family and friends will gather on Saturday,
November 26. Calling hours will be from 9 - 11 am at the Douglas Funeral Home, 51
Worthen Rd, Lexington with a memorial service immediately following. Contributions
may be made in her memory to a scholarship fund at Waltham High School 617
