ABATE, Charles Joseph Of Lexington, June 21st, 2010. Husband of Marianne E. (Metzner) Abate. Father of Charles J. Abate Jr. of Arlington and Michael K. Abate and his wife MaryAnn of Falls Church, VA. Brother of Edward Abate of Somerville, the late Paul Abate and his surviving wife Katherine of Londonderry, NH, and the late John Abate. Charles is also survived by many nieces and nephews. WWII U.S. Navy Veteran, served in the South Pacific and in the Battle of Leyte Gulf. He later served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve and retired from the U.S. Army Reserve. He also made a career in the U.S. Postal Service. Visiting Hours will be held Saturday June 26 at the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd. Lexington from 12pm to 3pm.
