Charles Emerson MacLeod, May 8, 2010. Died at home in Lexington with his family after a short illness. He was born at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge and grew up in Arlington MA. He was educated at Arlington High School and then enlisted in the US Army during World War II. He was in the 752nd battalion as a tank commander and served until Christmas Day 1946. He was honorably discharged and welcomed home gratefully by his parents, Charles Lorne MacLeod and Norma (MacPherson) MacLeod. Shortly after his arrival home, he met a wonderful woman destined to be his wife of 57 years, Eleanor Jean (Hopkins) MacLeod. He and his late brother Weldon Lorne MacLeod, established an automotive business in Somerville, MacLeod Bros. Automotive Service. They operated this with the help of their father for many years. After a while Charlie and his brother decided to attend college to become automotive teachers. They both graduated and began teaching careers, Charlie at Newton North High School. He taught for 23 years and is remembered by his students as someone who was fair but strict. A man who would help you at any cost to himself as long as you were honest with him. For some years, he and his class participated in the Troubleshooting Contests that many of the automotive manufacturers would have. They usually won!

Charlie had one child, Charlene M. Fraser who married Paul H. Fraser Jr. also of Lexington. They have two wonderful daughters, Kristen M. Felix (husband Mark) and Stacey A. Fraser (fiance Justin). He was also fortunate to have two handsome great-grandsons, William T. Felix and Nathan J. Felix.

Throughout his life, he had a passion and a talent for restoring antique and classic cars. He restored them beautifully, made his family fall in love with them, and then sold them! As he told his daughter many times, "cars are like buses, there is always another one coming along''. His favorite was probably his 1930s era Packard.

Funeral Service Tuesday 5/11/10 11 am
Internment will be at Westview Cemetary immediately following funeral service
Reception at Simon W. Robinson Masonic Lodge, Bedford Street, Lexington MA
