Welch, Christina J. (Joseph), of Lexington, February 28, 2018. Beloved wife of Jerry D. Welch. Cherished daughter of the late Louis Joseph and Olga (Nedelli) Joseph. Loving mother of Elizabeth J. Welch Marsh and her husband Thomas of North Hampton, NH, and Peter J. Welch and his wife Kate Leggett of Belmont, CA. Adoring grandmother of Sophie, Henry, Mactavish, Ezekiel, and Audrey.  Sister of the late Michael Joseph and Thomas Joseph. She is also survived by a niece, Tracey Fitzgibbon of Braintree.

Christina's father and mother were born in Graboca, and Korce, Albania respectively and lived in Boston's West End. She attended Girl's Latin School, and Simmons College, where she helped establish an undergraduate mathematics major. She enjoyed a long career in software design and retired from Raytheon as principal software engineer.  She was intensely into politics and served the League of Women Voters and was a Lexington Town Meeting member for years. She also loved music, literature, art, theatre, and opera. She subscribed to the Boston Symphony for over fifty years, never missed a Sarah Caldwell Boston Opera production, and read and discussed her monthly book club selections faithfully for decades.  Like Callas and Pavarotti, she also loved cooking and eating fine food.  She particularly enjoyed sharing her Edgartown house with her dear children and grandchildren.  Above all, she had a special gift for cheering all who knew her.  Her passing has saddened the world.

A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday March 6 at the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd. Lexington at 10:30am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
