Carpenter, David P. of Lexington,  August 17, 2023. ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­With great sorrow we announce the passing of David P Carpenter known to many families and friends as "Butch" after a long battle of cancer.  He was a beloved son, brother, husband, Dad, grandfather "Bumpa" and great grandfather. He was 83 years old. Beloved husband of the late Donna Carpenter (Osgood) and the late Marianne Carpenter (Dame).

He was born July 26, 1940, to William & Ilene Carpenter. He was born and raised and worked in Lexington his entire life. Butch was a loving family man. He married Donna (Osgood) in 1962. They were married for almost 25 years, she predeceased him in 1985.  They had 3 daughters whom he loved and cherished. Debbie Boisvert and her husband Rich, Denise Lynch and her husband Tom, Dawn McDonough and her husband Dan, both predeceased him. Anyone who knew him knows what his son in laws all meant to him. Robert and his wife Karen, Hannah her husband Adrian, Michael, Rachel and her husband Jimmy.

In addition to his daughters, he leaves behind his grandchildren, Richard III and his wife Mikaela, Michelle, Matthew, Michael, Christopher, Megan, Joey, Zach, Tyler and Jake and great granddaughter Savannah.

Butch was a hard worker for his family and worked many jobs before becoming a Lexington Firefighter for over 27 years. He loved his job and the guys he got to know, a lifetime of great friends. He also had his own heating company which he and Tony his partner for years. both enjoyed laughing and joking while working he loved to joke and aggravate anyone and everyone. Butch Loved taking trips, dancing, long drives, hanging out at the pool with Donna and spending time with his girls.

In 1986 Butch meet Marianne they had over 33 years together she predeceased him in 2020. He had over 28 years of retirement.  They loved to travel all over the world,  they especially loved cruising the high seas. They would retire to sunny warm Florida for the winters and made lots of new friends and were very busy, taking trips to the theatre, parks, museums, walks, and riding their bikes. Butch loved gardening and landscaping his yard. He loved his vegetable garden, growing everything, especially his tomatoes and making his homemade sauce.  He loved reading, listening to music, and dancing. He was an avid sports fan, especially his Bruins and Pats. He was a fun loving guy.

David also leaves behind his loving baby sister Judy and her husband Leonard, in-laws Mike, Cay, Reggie and Bernie. His sisters Nancy, Ethelyn and brother Billy, all predeceased him. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and countless friends who he adored and loved to be with, whether out for dinner, travel or a simple ice cream, and his Saturday morning breakfast club.  He will be missed.

Funeral from the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd. Lexington, Thursday August 24th at 9am followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Brigid Church, Lexington at 10am. Visiting hours at the funeral home are Wednesday August 23rd from 4pm to 7pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
