1941-2024
David Williams passed away on March 1, 2024 at the age of 82 in his beloved town of Lexington, Massachusetts. David was surrounded by his loving family when he passed, who will continue to honor his spirit by living their lives to the fullest.
David is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Linda. His daughter Kim Zanin and husband Eric, son Todd Williams and wife Nancy and son Trevor Williams and wife Sharon. David is also survived by his 7 Grandchildren; Connor, Laura, Matthew, Brian, Tamryn, Shea and Jackson. David is also survived by his sisters, Diane, Susan, Marsha, Joanne and brother, Stephen and their families.
David was the eldest son of 6, being born in Boston in 1941 to Edward and Virginia Williams. At the age of 14, David and family moved to Hingham, Massachusetts where David attended high school. After attending college in Ohio where he met the love of his life, he and Linda settled in Lexington to raise their three children. The town of Lexington became David's fourth child. David poured countless hours into the town serving on immeasurable committees, elected positions and planning boards. In 1997, David was honored by the town of Lexington with the White Tricon Hat Award of which he was very proud. Each and every Patriot's Day, David would watch the parade with his family from his front steps wearing that honor on his head. It was the only hat I ever saw him wear. He didn't like hats much. After receiving the award, David said, "My message for everyone is to volunteer, get involved and give of your time in the service of others. I think everyone should and it is one of the most important things a person can do."
David's other love was his gardens and being out in nature. His role on the Lexington's Conservation Commission allowed David to preserve land so future generations could enjoy nature as he did. His gardens both in Lexington and Maine were explosions of color and feeling. David has a quote from Pearl Fryer in his garden which reads: "It wasn't important for me to create a garden. I wanted to create a feeling, that when you walked through here, you feel different than when you came." David loved gardening and would often do so all day.
Battling serious cancer in his early 30's, David is remembered for his perseverance, unwavering upbeat attitude and telling others to "Live For The Moment". He never took one day for granted.
A private family service will be held.
