Deyin Xu passed away peacefully at home on Aug. 21, 2021 at the age of 53, with his wife, brother, and son around him. He fought a courageous battle with cancer and took multiple lines of therapies in stride, while coaching his son's schoolwork during the COVID remote learning year of 2020.

As a child, Deyin grew up in Shanghai and attended Fudan University, majoring in Electrical Engineering. He arrived in US in 1992 and studied at UMass Dartmouth and later UMass Amherst. He worked as a software engineer at PTC, Verizon, Sierra Atlantic, Hitachi Consulting, and Affectiva.

Even though Deyin's life is shortened by cancer, his family and friends will cherish all the good moments shared with him. He is survived by his wife Jennie, son Ryan, 15, and brother Deyu.

Visiting hours for Deyin will be held on Tuesday Aug. 24, 6pm to 8pm, at the Douglass Funeral Home, Lexington,  and a graveside service on Saturday Aug. 28 at 10am at Westview Cemetery in Lexington, MA.
