Obituary

Avallone, Doris L.  "Doreen", of Lexington passed away peacefully on October 22, 2023.  Doreen was the daughter of the late Frederick and Helen (Plummer) Taylor and the beloved wife of the late Ernest J. "Gabby" Avallone.

Known by her family as "Mimi", she leaves behind her children, Joseph L. Avallone (Jean Higgins) of Florida, Peter E. Avallone (Susan Hartery) of Lexington, Nancy J. Avallone (Roy Palumbo) of Lexington, Laurie M. Avallone (Brian Coyne) of Billerica and predeceased by her daughter Jane E. Avallone.  She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, including the late Stacey Avallone, as well as 8 great grandchildren.

Born and raised in Somerville, Doreen graduated from Somerville High School in 1945. While raising her family in Lexington, Doreen was employed at Decelle's where she made many lifelong friends.

Nothing gave her more pleasure than spending time with her family.  She also loved to garden and enjoyed a good book and a cup of tea.

Visitation will be held on Monday October 30, 2023 at the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Road, Lexington from 9:30-11:00am.  A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am.  Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New England Donor Services, 60 First Avenue, Waltham, MA 02451.  Interment Westview Cemetery, Lexington.
