Dorothy J. Bolduc, 91, of Lexington, MA. passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026, at Bear Hill Healthcare and Rehabilitation, where she had been residing.

Dorothy was born June 13, 1935, to Emily and Arthur Jewell of Brooks, Maine. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul, and her son, Anthony.

Dottie graduated from UMaine Orono with a degree in Home Economics and Nutrition. Following graduation, she taught high school in Groveton, N.H., where she met her beloved husband, Paul E. Bolduc. They were married Aug. 27, 1960, and raised four children in their home on Spring Street.

As a young adult, Dottie earned recognition as a First-Class Girl Scout and a Junior Maine Guide at Camp Natarswi at the base of Mount Katahdin. As a counselor at Natarswi, she led canoe trips along the Penobscot and Allagash rivers, throughout the Rangeley Lakes, and led hikes up Mount Katahdin. The skills she learned in these roles she shared with her children during summers as they camped along the Saco River in Maine with friends. Those summers, the knowledge she shared, and her love are the greatest gifts she gave her children.

Dorothy lived a full and rich life as a daughter, spouse, mother, grandmother, and friend. She spent many happy days and moments doing things she enjoyed, from reading, painting, needlework, cooking and sewing to visiting with friends and sharing stories. She loved the outdoors and was happiest when planting and nurturing the beautiful gardens around her home, walking with her dog through the woods, canoeing, camping, and taking road trips to new places. She enjoyed teaching, and as an educator she spent more than 20 years working for Waltham Public Schools as a paraprofessional. Additionally, she worked for Mass Audubon at Habitat in Belmont. It was a dream job for her, as she was able to share her vast knowledge of New England's flora, fauna and ecosystems with children and adults alike.

Dottie leaves behind her daughters, Lisa Bolduc of Cornish, Maine; Debra Bolduc of Clinton, Massachusetts; and Cynthia Silvestro and her husband, John, of Stoneham, Massachusetts; her brother, John Jewell of Belfast, Maine; her granddaughter, Sara Adams of Milford, Massachusetts; her grandson, Paul Silvestro of Stoneham, Massachusetts; seven nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Dora.

A Celebration of Life will be held July 31, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Douglass Funeral Home, Lexington, MA. Burial at the Westview cemetery will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Massachusetts Audubon Society.
