Obituary

Druscilla (Dru) H. Nason, 85, of Lexington, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at Encompass Rehabilitation Center in Woburn on July 21, 2024, from natural causes.

Dru was born in Manchester, New Hampshire, and raised in Wellesley, Massachusetts. She attended Colby College, where she met her first husband, Donald Mordecai. Dru and Donald (Don) raised their two children in Wayland, Massachusetts. Dru was well known for her cooking and hosting fabulous meals for friends and family, often donating self-catered dinners at fundraising events.

In 1984, Dru married Charles (Chuck) Nason and continued to reside in Wayland. She furthered her education by obtaining her master's degree in social work from Simmons College which was followed by many years of clinical social work, particularly in hospice care.  Dru was an active member of the First Parish Unitarian/Universalist of Wayland, playing the flute and singing in the choir.

Dru and Chuck eventually retired and moved to the wonderful lakeside community of Woodlands in Lunenburg, Massachusetts.  They enjoyed many years at their lakeside home and summers in the Adirondacks in New York.  Dru was an avid reader and loved to read her books sitting in her favorite chair either overlooking the lake or the mountains in the Adirondacks.

Chuck and Dru moved to Waterstone Assisted Living of Lexington where they made friends quickly.  At Waterstone, Dru relished meeting new people and hearing their stories.  She was truly surrounded by wonderful and caring friends.

Dru's kind spirit touched everyone she met.  She always had a positive attitude, a smile on her face and had an ability to brighten every room she walked into. She treasured her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She had a passion for the color pink, matching outfits, and her New York Times Sunday crossword puzzles. She loved celebrating special occasions and was known for her beautiful table settings and floral arrangements.

Dru will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.

Dru leaves behind her adoring and loving husband of 39 years, Charles K. Nason of Lexington; son Daniel Mordecai and wife Debra Murphy Mordecai; son David Mordecai; stepdaughter Barbara Nason and partner Chad Van Evera; stepson Thomas Nason; grandchildren Tyler Carroll and partner Laura Metcoff, Tyler Gelber, Alexander Carroll and fiancée Kaitlin Boyen, Regan and Michael Hogan, Emmelina Bales, Leeland Nason Martin, Marshall Nason Martin and great-grandchildren Lillian and Remington Hogan and Natalie Carroll.

A celebration of Dru's life will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Waterstone Assisted Living, 53 Watertown Street, Lexington, MA. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Dru may make a donation to The American Kidney Fund at www.kidneyfund.org.
