Mr. Ed Gray passed away after a lengthy illness at Emerson Hospital, Lexington, MA, on Monday, August 10, 2009. Born in Boston, he was the son of Samuel and Henrietta Gray. He graduated the University of Rhode Island and received a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He received his Masters at Boston University in Mechanical Engineering and was a member of Tao Beta Pi, the Engineering Honor Society. Mr. Gray was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a Merchant Marine Veteran and served his country with distinction. Mr. Gray was CO-owner of Keystone Battery Corporation where he manufactured and distributed automobile, industrial and emergency lighting batteries. A longtime resident of Lexington, his survivors include companion Mary Osborne of over 20 years and her family, former wife, Mrs. Naomi Gray Kaplan with whom he shared 38 years, and brother Phil Gray of Ravenswood Western Australia. He was a loving father to his three sons and their families: Dr. F. Scott Gray and Cantor Deborah Katchko-Gray of Ridgefield, Connecticut, Bruce and Sue Gray of Belle Mead, New Jersey and Ronald and Sandra Gray of Milford, Massachusetts. Devoted and loving grandfather to Justin, Ari, Rannon, Evan, Abby, Jacqueline and Ryan Gray. Loving step-grandfather to David, Aaron, Ezra and Joseph Zimmerman.
Graveside service at Westview Cemetery on Bedford St. in Lexington on Tuesday, August 11th. Service will be conducted by Cantor Deborah Katchko-Gray. Special friend and nurse Joan Porackova Hill will add musical selections in honor of Mr. Ed Gray. Shiva will be observed privately.
