Obituary

DIOSY, Edith Maria (Ferk) of Carleton-Willard Village, Bedford, Mass, died September 24, 2021.  Born September 30, 1920 in Pecs, Hungary, she was the daughter of Anthony and Elizabeth Ferk.  In 1939, after graduating from teacher's school, she came to America for an extended visit at the invitation of her Aunt and Uncle, Maria and Geza Hauck, who lived in Lexington.  Due to the timing and circumstances of World War II, that visit lasted a lifetime.  She was the devoted wife of Emri J. Diosy who pre-deceased her in 2006, and the loving mother of Maria Witt (Bud) of Vancouver, WA, Martha Hanson (Lee) of Hudson, MA, and Thomas Diosy (Karen) of Fairport, NY.  She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren Jennifer Smith (Steven) of Hudson, MA, Kristen Soucy (David) of Londonderry, NH, Laurie Meyer (John) of Vancouver, WA, Thomas Witt of Denver, CO, as well as her beloved great-grandchildren Samuel Smith, Andrew Soucy, Joseph Meyer and Inder Witt.  She will be remembered for her warmth & kindness, her generosity, her delightful accent and her remarkable cooking and baking skills.  But above all, she will be remembered for the value she held highest: love and devotion to family.

The family would like to extend its sincerest gratitude to the employees and staff of Carleton-Willard Village for their kind and caring dedication to their mother.

Visiting hours will be at the Douglass Funeral Home 51 Worthern Road, Lexington on Sunday October 3 from 3:00 to 5:00pm and Monday October 4 at 9:00am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Brigid Church, 1981 Massachusetts Avenue, Lexington at 10:00am, followed by interment at Westview Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Edith's memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
