Eleanor Miles Fritz died peacefully, on July 22, 2023 after a long life well lived. She was born in Duluth, Minnesota on December 28, 1920, and raised in Arlington, Vermont. She graduated from the Barrington School and Smith College.  Her major in English began her decades long passion for reading and libraries.

While working in advertising in New York, she met Edward A. Fritz Jr, a U.S. Navy lieutenant, whose ship was briefly in port. They were happily married, until Ed's death in 1996.

Ellie and Ed settled in Lexington, Massachusetts and raised their two children. Ellie was active in the Lexington Historical Society, the Field and Garden Club, Hancock Congregational Church, the Cub Scouts and the Lexington Golf Club.

Ellie had lovely gardens and arranged flowers for period rooms in Lexington's historic houses. She enjoyed many forms of handwork, bridge, travel, golf and tennis. She and Ed spent their summers on Lake Winnipesaukee and upon retirement, winters in Clearwater Beach, Florida.

Ellie leaves her son Frederick Miles Fritz (Rick), his wife Martie, and her daughter Susan Damon Fritz and her husband Alex.

She dearly loved her four grandsons and their families. Jay and Adeeva Fritz, Matthew and Chandler Fritz, Benjamin and Jennifer Fritz and Wylie Herzberg.

She was the very special great grandmother to Cara, Phoebe, Ellie, Miles, Charlotte, Eliot, Huntting and Sam Fritz. And to Ella and Gwen Herzberg and Evan Jean.

Her family is grateful to the caring community at Carleton Willard Village where Ellie has lived for over twenty years.
