Lane, Eleanor F, 98, of Brookhaven in Lexington, MA, died peacefully on March 29, 2017. She was the loving wife of the late Philip Lane, Sr. and caring mother of Stephen Lane (Pam) of Bethany, CT, and the late Philip Lane, Jr. (Deb) of Leominster, MA. Ellie was adored as a grandmother by Janet Dye (Stuart), Jacquelyn Zaccardo (Jeff), Christina Brunette (Steve), Jason Lane (Marta), Joshua Lane, Audi Souza (Peter), Mary Lane, Emily Corbett (Todd), Bryan Lane (Kelly) and Savanna Lane. She is also survived by 20 great grandsons and granddaughters and many nieces and nephews. Ellie was born in Haverhill, MA to John and Florence Lappen on January 19, 1919. She was loved as a devoted sister by Deeg Mackay (David), the late Louise Duffey (Jack) and the late Jean Cervizzi (Dom). She graduated from Wheelock College in Boston, MA. Ellie married her husband, Philip, in 1941. She taught second grade at the Stratton School in Arlington, MA. Ellie and Phil lived in Belmont and then settled in Lexington, where she lived for 71years. Ellie was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.   They especially enjoyed family trips to the Cape. As a couple, Ellie and Phil traveled in the U. S., Europe and Africa. When they moved to Brookhaven, they were both actively involved and flourished in their new community. At Brookhaven they had many wonderful friends. Ellie was a communicant of St. Brigid Parish, Lexington, a long-time member of the Lexington Field and Garden Club and a volunteer at Symmes Hospital. She was also an ardent Red Sox fan. Creating art was a passion of Ellie's. As an artist, Ellie studied under John F. Enser and specialized in beautiful oil landscapes. More recently, she also worked in watercolor and charcoal. Many of her family members are fortunate to own one of her creations. She was also recognized as a gifted flower arranger.   Ellie will be forever remembered for her keen wit, energy, passion for learning, graciousness, love of family, kindness and artistic talents.   In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations be made to Brookhaven at Lexington (reference Employee Scholarship Fund) 1010 Waltham St. Lexington MA 02421. A Funeral Service will be held at the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd. Lexington on Monday April 3 ^rd , at 11:30 am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
