HADLEY, Elinus B. "Mike" Feb. 8, 2012, was the husband of Mary (McDevitt) for over 68 years. Mike was born in Quincy and was brought up in Lexington. He attended the Lexington Public Schools and Burdett College. After graduating he was a tree surgeon for Davey Tree Company traveling with them to several states. He served in the Army for three years, after which he was a time efficiency manager for S.A. Woods and Smithcraft Companies. In later years, he worked for Emerson Rug and Allen Carpet Companies as a manager and salesperson. After the dissolution of Allen Carpet Company in 1981 he worked for Nuclear Metals in Concord. He moved to Osterville in 1982, where for many years he was a bridge tender at the West Bay Bridge in Osterville. He belonged to the Osterville men's Club and the Barnstable Newcomers Clubwhere he was active in their bowling and bridge groups. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Osterville. He was also a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Council 94 and a 4th degree member. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Patricia M. Connolly and her husband Paul of Quincy, and his sons Alan J. and his wife Nancy of Lexington, William P. and his wife Diane of Billerica, David E. and his wife Mary of Arlington, and Gerard F. and his wife Linda of Billerica, 11 grandchildren and 16 greatgrandchildren. He was the brother of Virginia Silva of Woburn and the late Charlotte Clark, Priscilla Bachelder and Margaret Pellilo. He was also the father of the late James M. Hadley. Funeral from the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd., LEXINGTON, Monday, Feb. 13 at 11am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, Lexington, at 12pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday from 3pm to 7pm. Interment will be in Westview Cemetery in Lexington.
