TAYLOR, Elisabeth, "Betty" (Boyd)

Of Lexington, 83, died February 10, 2015. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Thomas G. Taylor, and by their three children and their spouses, and five grandchildren; David and Brenda Taylor and their children, Kathryn and Caroline; Cynthia and Camilo Santana and their children, Austin and Grace; and Andrew and Mary Taylor and their daughter, Morgan. She also leaves a brother, Kenneth Boyd and his wife, Jeanne, of Hudson, Wisconsin, and a sister-in-law, Janet Boyd of Reedville, Virginia.

Betty was a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University and held a masters degree in education from Harvard University. She taught third grade for several years in the Lynnfield Public Schools. Betty was an avid gardener and a long-time member of the Lexington Field and Garden Club. Her true love was stencilling and tray painting in the early American style and she was a member of the Historical Society of Early American Decoration. She was a member of the Decorators Guild and the Needle Arts Guild of the Lexington Arts and Crafts Society, and an active member of Hancock United Church of Christ for over fifty years. A memorial service will be held on February 28, 2015 at 2 P. M. at Hancock United Church of Christ, 1912 Massachusetts Avenue, Lexington. Arrangements by the Douglass Funeral Home, Lexington.
