Elizabeth Mary Damiani Andress, beloved wife of Stephen, loving mother of Elizabeth, William (Maida) and Abigail, devoted sister of Jody Petner (Joe) and Kathy Davidson, and grandmother of Ryan and Mason, passed away on June 24, 2022 after an eight year struggle with triple negative breast cancer. Betsy was a truly unique individual, with strong opinions, often strongly expressed, but always in a way that made others immediately respect and admire her direct, honest and good-humored manner.  She adored her extended Italian family from South Jersey where she grew up, and Massachusetts, where she moved with her husband in 1976, and would laugh into wee hours at their gatherings retelling family exploits.  Betsy earned degrees in Foreign Service (Georgetown Univ. Sch. of Foreign Service, 1968, where a classmate named Bill Clinton would borrow her notes from Professor Onuf's International Relations class), and a Master of Arts in Public Policy and Administration (Univ. of Wisconsin), both of which were put to their constant and highest possible use raising three children.  She is pre-deceased by her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Damiani, and by her daughter Elizabeth Gillis Andress (pictured with her in happier days in the accompanying photo).  At Betsy's request, there will be no formal services, but the family is planning a small memorial gathering at a time to be determined.  Her most loving regards are fondly expressed on her behalf to all of her family and friends for a life most gratefully well-lived thanks to their shared times together.  Those who may wish may contribute in Betsy's memory to their favorite charities in lieu of flowers.
