Obituary

CAROTA, Elizabeth A., a life-long resident, December 3, 2018. Wife of her late husband Charles F.W. Carota of Lexington.  Mother of Deborah A. Farrand and her husband Frederick of Westford, Mark C. Carota and his wife Joanne of Chelmsford, and Elizabeth A. DeNovellis and her husband Mark of Chelmsford.  Sister of the late John Fitzgerald, Mary Fitzgerald, Rosalie Roth, Sally Davis and of her surviving sisters Peggy Kmiec of Lexington and Florence Farese of Arlington.  Elizabeth (Betty) is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Brendan, Corry, Holly, Matthew, Brian, Megan, and David, and by many nieces and nephews.

Betty was a 1944 graduate of Lexington High School, volunteer for Helping Hands in Lexington and longtime member of St. Brigid Parish and Couples Club. After high school, Betty worked at Foster Lamont, then focused her talent and time creating a home for her family and raising her children.  Once they were grown, she went back to the workforce holding various positions including managing a doctor's office in Lexington from which she retired to spend more time with her husband, grandchildren, friends and of course, her many hobbies.  Betty stayed very close with her sisters all her life, as well as a few very special lifelong friends.  She had many talents including sewing, knitting, rug-hooking, baking and cooking.  She always stayed active throughout, be it swimming, walking, golfing or dancing.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the fine staff at Brightview Concord River and D'Youville Nursing Home for their sincere compassion, care and support.

Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Brigid Church, Lexington, on Wed. Dec. 5 at 10 am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.  Visiting hours Tues. Dec. 4, 4 to 7 pm, at the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd, LEXINGTON.
