Frances Marousis

1933-2024

Loving mother, aunt, grandmother, friend, Frances Marousis, 90, of Burlington, MA (formerly of Great Neck and Plandome, NY), died peacefully on February 6th with her loving family by her side.

The wake will be held Saturday, February 10th, 10am-12pm at Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Road, Lexington with reception to follow.

Frances and her older sister, Helen, were born in Brooklyn, NY to Thomas and Anastasia Koziares from Greece.  She was married to George Coundouris after college who sadly passed too early in life in 1963 and later married for 26 years to Vasilis (Bill) Marousis until his death in 1998.

A graduate of Queens College, NY and Adelphi University, Garden City, NY, she spent her years helping people as a Social Worker and later Probation Officer for the Department of Social Services, Nassau County, NY.  With her sharp wit, keen intellect, strong will yet compassionate nature, people always learned to trust and respect her.

Known for her zest for life, her down to earth personality, her flair for fashion and decorating and for her fun, loving nature, she was often called by those who knew her, "Fancy Franny", "Feisty Franny", "Fabulous Fran", "Lady Fran" but her most loved was just "Yiayia".

She is survived by her only daughter, Marie Attia (Alex) of Lexington, MA,  grandsons, George-Alexander and William-Ramsey of Cambridge, MA, son, Spyro Marousis (Donna) of   Winter Park, FL and granddaughter, Angelica Marousis of Orlando, FL, Dr. Constantine Marousis and children, Ellie and Danny, and nephews, Dennis Fassuliotis (Elaine) of Charleston, SC and his sons, Christopher and Nicholas of SC, and Dr. Thomas Fassuliotis (Ginger) of Gainesville, GA.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Care Dimensions hospice care, a wonderful organization who went over and beyond to make her final days as peaceful and loving for her and for our family.  Giving@CareDimensions.org
