WILLIAMS, Georgia Head 90, of Lexington, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on Friday, September 28th, 2012. She was born to the late George and Harriett (Aycock) Head, Oct 10, 1921, in LaGrange, GA. Georgia graduated from LaGrange High School and received a BA in Music from LaGrange College in 1943. She married the late Sidney Williams in 1943, and they moved to Lexington, MA in 1948. In 2008 Georgia relocated to Carleton-Willard Village in Bedford. Although she was from Georgia, Georgia embraced living in New England when she moved here in 1948. She was an active volunteer in the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the MIT Host Family Program, the MIT Dames, and the Lexington Field and Garden Club. Her civic affiliations included service as a Lexington Town Meeting Member, on the Town Celebrations Committee, and as Commissioner of the Lexington Historic Districts Commission. She was a long-time member of the Hancock Congregational Church in Lexington and volunteered in the Parish Life Committee. She had many friends, was a great hostess and was a talented piano player and painter. Georgia is survived by her son G. Rowland Williams and his wife Stephanie of Amesbury MA, grandaughter Deborah Williams and grandaughter Sarah Stirling, her husband Thomas Stirling and great-grandson Owen Thomas Stirling. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the National Cancer Society or the Boston Symphony Orchestra. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 PM Thursday October 25th in the auditorium at Carleton-Willard Village, 100 Old Billerica Rd, Bedford.
