Obituary

McGrath, Gerald E. of Lexington, formerly of Quincy and Ogunquit, ME, June 3, 2023. Predeceased by his first wife  Virginia (Dunn) McGrath, and his second wife Arlene (Nord) McGrath. Father of the late Gerald E. McGrath Jr. formerly of NC, Michael F. McGrath of NM, the late Kevin J. McGrath formerly of Quincy, the late Paul J. McGrath formerly of Braintree, and the late Timothy J. McGrath formerly of NY. Father in law of Karin McGrath (wife of Gerald, Jr), Nikki McGrath (wife of Michael) and Jean McGrath (wife of Paul). Brother of the late James McGrath of Washington, D.C., the late Joseph McGrath of Boston, and the late John McGrath, Robert McGrath, Marie McGrath, and Julia McGrath. Gerry is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Jacqueline, Gerald III, Marianne, Michael, Matthew, and Bridgette, and by many nieces and nephews. U.S. Army Veteran, Military Police Corps, served as Trustee, Adjutant and Chaplain for Lexington Matt Allen VFW Post 3007; BBA Northeastern University; MED Boston State College; CAGS Boston University. Long-time Blood Donor at the Children's Hospital (19 gallons); Retired Principal – Boston Public Schools; Boston Teachers Union – Retired Chapter; Member of the Brookhaven Chorale, the Lexington Community Center, and  the Lexington Historical Society - Colonial Singers.

Funeral from the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd. Lexington Saturday, June 10 at 9am followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Brigid Church, Lexington at 10am. Reception to follow the Mass at the Lexington Elks. Visiting hours Friday from 4pm to 7pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Donations in Gerry's memory may be made to Children's Hospital, Blood Donor Unit, 300 Longwood Ave. Boston, MA 02115.

The McGrath family wishes to extend deepest gratitude to the staff of Edith Norse Rodgers Veterans Hospital Bedford  and the West Roxbury Veteran's Hospital; Emergency Staff Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center; Staff from Lahey Clinic; Staff at Boston Children's Hospital;  wonderful neighbors and friends from Lexington Place Condo; Staff and volunteers from the Lexington Community Center and Lexington Fire Department 911 Unit.

Interment at the  Mass. National Cemetery in Bourne on Monday, June 12 at 10am.
