Giuseppe "Joe" Albanese, 81, went gently into the Lord's Arms on March 24, 2017 , after a courageous battle.  Giuseppe passed away in his home with his beloved wife, Virginia (Bumbaca) and his children by his side.  Giuseppe came to the United States from Italy in 1960 at the age of 24, where he raised a family with his loving wife of 57 years.  Giuseppe was a successful carpenter & general contractor and was best known for his work ethic and his most generous heart, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to all his family, friends, and those in need.  Giuseppe loved children and his passions were his family, travel, family gatherings, but most of all, his garden.  He leaves behind his sons Vincent Albanese and his wife Catherine Albanese of Quincy, Frank Albanese and his wife Amy Albanese of Haverhill, and his daughter Maria Berardinelli and her husband Giacomo Berardinelli, Jr. of Burlington.  He was the most loving and adored Nonno of Victoria & Olivia Albanese and Siena & Giacomo Berardinelli, III.  He also leaves behind his brother Attilio Albanese and his wife Francesca of Siena, Italy and many nieces, nephews and loving friends.  He is predeceased by his four brothers Rocco, Salvatore, Domenico and Emilio and his sister Rosa of Italy.  Funeral will be held from the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd., Lexington on Monday March 27, at 8am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Michael's Parish, 90 Concord Road, Bedford at 9am.  Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.  Visiting hours at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-6pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Liver Foundation or Emerson Hospital Home Care.  Interment Shawsheen Cemetery Bedford.
