Harry Bateman Goe Scott III, age 74, passed on March 19, 2025. A longtime resident of Lexington
and Winchester, Harry was born in 1951 to Harry Bateman Goe Scott II and Marilyn M. (Meserve)
Scott and grew up in Winchester.
Harry is survived by his son Dana Scott and his wife Laura, his son Matthew Scott and his wife
Jennifer, his two grandsons Aristotle and Archimedes, his mother-in-law Lillian (Swain) Andrews,
his sister-in-law Joy (Andrews) Coonradt and her husband Brian, his sister-in-law Beverly
(Andrews) Valliere, several nieces, nephews, and great-grandnephews. He is reunited in heaven
with his beloved son Timothy, his wife Deborah L. (Andrews), and his parents.
Harry was the kind of man who left an impression on everyone he met—sweet, caring, funny, and
profoundly selfless. He often said he was the richest man in the world, not because of material
things, but because he was surrounded by love. And for Harry, nothing mattered more than being
with the people he loved. In his later years, he found immense joy spending time with his son
Matthew, daughter-in-law Jennifer, and adoring grandsons, Aristotle and Archimedes, whom he
cherished deeply. He loved the outdoors and spent his golden years immersed in New England
nature with them.
Harry graduated from Winchester High School and later attended Benjamin Franklin Cummins
Institute of Technology. His professional life centered around the automotive industry, including
work at his family's business, Scott Motors. He also contributed his talents to Barry Controls and
performed building maintenance and mentored others for Lexington Christian Academy and
Windsor School.
A hardworking, cut-and-dry kind of guy, Harry loved rock music, classic cars, tinkering with
machines, woodworking, and most of all, lending a helping hand. His legacy is one of kindness,
humility, and unwavering love for family.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 29, at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, 580 Mt. Auburn
St., Cambridge, at 1:00 p.m. Friends and family are warmly invited. Arrangements are being
handled by Douglass Funeral Home in Lexington. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Harry's memory may be made to Billy Graham Evangelistic
Association, The Voice of the Martyrs, or Doctors Without Borders.
