Hazel Higgins Graham died peacefully at her home in Lexington on September 1, 2021 at the age of 92.

She was born in West Tremont, Maine, January 5, 1929, the daughter of Helen and Myron Higgins. Hazel's family moved from Mount Desert Island to Arlington, Mass., where she attended local schools and graduated from Arlington High School.

She met the love of her life Donald M. Graham at a church social. They married on February 26, 1949 and had 62 years together before Don's death in 2012, also at the age of 92.

After living in Providence Rhode Island for nine years, they settled in Lexington in 1961 to raise their three children. As a mother of three, Hazel managed to attend Lesley college and go on to earn a degree in Education.  She worked as a teachers aid in the Lexington school system before moving on to work at Digital Computer Company in Burlington.
She was passionate about gardening and her home garden won numerous awards from the Lexington Garden Club.  She shared her interest in bird watching with her husband and children, and belonged to a local book club. She was an avid church member and volunteer and served First Parish in roles too numerous to mention. First Parish was her beloved second home.

Hazel is survived by her loving children: Helen of Seattle, WA, David of Gloucester, MA., and Martha of Lexington, MA., her devoted grandsons, Jesse of New York City and Anthony of Lexington, as well as many dear nieces and nephews.

We will always treasure her sense of humor, her generosity, her fierce independence, her love of nature, her kindness and goodness, and her deep devotion to family.  Rest in peace, dear Hazel.

the previously scheduled memorial service  at the First Parish Church on October 2 has been postponed, new date in the future to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Parish Church in Lexington.
