ANTON, Dr. Hector R. Of Westport, Connecticut, died on November 22, 2011, in his daughter's home in Lexington, MA. Dr. Anton was a retired partner of Deloitte and Touche, a public accounting firm. He was Professor Emeritus of the Haas School of Business Administration, University of California, Berkeley, serving as Associate Dean, Chairman of the Department, and in various capacities. He was Professor Emeritus at the Stern School of Business at New York University, and Chairman of the Ross Institute there. Dr. Anton was a visiting professor at Kauppa Korkea Koulu in Helsinki, Finland, in 1960 - 1961. He gave lectures in Stockholm, Sweden, during that period. He was an author of several books on accounting practices and one on Fortran and Business Data Processing. Dr. Anton received his PhD at the University of Minnesota, and a B.A. and Master's Degree from the University of California at Los Angeles. He served in the Navy during World War Two in the Pacific as a radar technician on a mine sweeper. Dr. Anton is survived by his wife, Lois M. Anton, and his beloved children, Dr. John Anton of Southampton, NY and Putney, VT; Dr. David Anton and his wife Dr. Johanna Anton of San Mateo, CA; Dr. Mary Anton and her husband Carl Oldenburg of Lexington, MA; and Dr. Susan Anton and partner Dr. Carl Swisher of Stockton, NJ. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Chris Anton and his wife Dr. Chrissy Maffeo Anton, Catie Oldenburg, Steven Anton, Ian Anton Oldenburg and his wife Sarah, Kahalley Anton, & a great-grandson, Joshua Anton. Visiting hours will be at the Douglass Funeral home in Lexington, MA starting at 12:00 on Sunday, December 4, 2011, followed by a memorial service at 2:00.
