Hartman, Iclal "Igi" (Sirel) of Lexington, June 28, 2023. Loving mother of John S. Hartman of Methuen, daughter in law Jennifer Hartman of Salem NH.  Devoted sister of the late Zulal (Akgun).  She is also survived by 2 grandchildren, Jack and Lily Hartman.

Iclal received her bachelor degree from Robert College, Istanbul/Mount Holyoke College 1950. She earned her Master's degree from Mount Holyoke 1951 and her Ph.D in Chemistry from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1963.  She spent her career teaching at Simmons College in Boston from 1960 to 1997. She became Professor of Chemistry in 1974 and taught until her retirement. Iclal was the Chair of the Department of Chemistry from 1985-1994.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday July 13 at the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd. Lexington at 11am. Visitation immediately prior to the service from 10:30am to 11am.
