Obituary

Rivais, Irene (Foltz) a long-time resident of Lexington, MA, died at 100 years old, on January 30, 2022. Irene was born February 20, 1921 in Petoskey MI, the daughter of the late Frederick and Freda (Radloff) Foltz and was raised on the family farm in Resort Township. Her many accomplishments include serving in the Marines in World War II, as a Sergeant in San Francisco CA. where she met and later married her husband the late Paul J. Rivais. After her husband's death in 1964 she returned to school and earned her LPN nursing degree and worked for Waltham Hospital until her retirement in 1983. Irene spent her retirement years spending time volunteering at her church and traveling with many religious groups around the world. She loved to celebrate her faith with them and other Catholic communities.

She is survived by her daughter, Diane Rondeau and her husband Joseph, her brother-in-law Robert Rivais of Arlington; her sisters-in-law Mabel (William) Hinkle of Gloucester, and Arlene Foltz of Petoskey MI; 7 Grandchildren and 18 Great Grandchildren, 6 Great-Great Grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Paul Rivais, and daughter Janet Naticchioni, along with brothers Wilbert (Madeline) Foltz; Howard (Dorotha) Foltz; Clarence (Louise) Foltz; Frederick Foltz; and her sisters Edith (Robert) Kage; and Edna (William) Fallon. Her sisters-in-law Rita Ahern; Lorrainer (Richard) Oliver; Ann Rivais; and her parents Fred and Freda (Radolf) Foltz.

Memorial Mass at St. Brigid's Church, Lexington MA on Saturday March 26, 2022 at 10am followed by interment at Westview Cemetery, Lexington.
