FREEMAN, James O. Passed away at home in Lexington on Oct. 2, 2014. He leaves his widow, Marion E. (Welch), formerly of Burlington. Jim was also the husband of Dorothy (James) Freeman who passed away in 2007. Born in Lexington, MA on March 12, 1920 to Arthur W. and Mildred S. Freeman, Jim lived in Lexington all of his life except for the time he spent in the U.S. Air Force, stationed for 2 years in Assam, India. Jim was preceded in death by an older sister and his brother, David. He is survived by his sister, A. Faith Twombly of Chathamport, MA, and several nieces and nephews. Jim was an avid golfer and was a member of both Nashawtuc and Lexington Golf Clubs serving as President and Treasurer of both clubs at various times. He was also treasurer of the Lexington Historical Society. He attended Lexington schools and graduated with the Lexington High School class of 1937. Many Class of 1937 High School Reunions were chaired by Jim. Jim became the owner of the Jefferson Union Company in Lexington. At the same time he served as President of APFA (American Pipe Fitters of America) for several terms. The family will hold a private family service in Chatham in the Spring.
