Jane Barkentin Bedell, age 84 of Bedford, MA died peacefully on Tuesday March 2nd, 2010. Born on December 4, 1925, to Theodore C. Banta and Lillian M. Reinhart, Jane spent over 50 years in Greenwich, CT. She graduated in the Greenwich High School class of 1943 and subsequently received a Bachelors of Science in chemistry from Mount Holyoke College. After receiving a Masters degree while raising 3 children, she taught chemistry for 19 years at Greenwich High School and was the Girls Varsity Tennis coach for a number of State Championship years. Jane was predeceased by her husbands William Slater Barkentin and K. Robert Bedell and her son Peter Banta Culman. She is survived by two daughters, Christine M. Culman of Half Moon Bay, CA and Kate N. Culman, MD of Calgary, Alberta, and five grandchildren. Her daughters would like to recognize the wonderful loving care Jane received at Carleton-Willard Village, Ross-Worthen Center, Bedford, MA and from the Hospice of the Northshore. A memorial service will be held at Christ Church Greenwich on April 9, 2010 at 10:30 am.
