Hutchinson, Joan E. (Conway) of Lexington, October 21, 2023. Beloved wife of Edward H. Hutchinson Jr.

Born and raised in Medford, MA., Joan was the Devoted sister of Michael "Joe" Conway of Medford.  She graduated from Medford High School and upon graduation was hired by the State of Massachusetts Unemployment Office in Boston where she worked her way up to management and received an early retirement at the young age of 50.

Joan loved her family and daunted all of her nieces and nephews. She is survived by 2 nieces, Kerry Margaret Conway and Susan Rodrigues, and by 3 nephews, Mark Hutchinson, Paul Hutchinson, and Stephen Hutchinson, and by 2 great nieces, Makayla and Brooke Adams.

A member of the Lexington Historical Society and the Lexington Garden Club, she enjoyed sprucing up various historical sites including "The Lexington Green" where she enjoyed greeting and sharing Boston's rich revolutionary history with tourists from around the world. She loved a good hot cup of Red Rose Tea and reading J.R.R. Tolkien's books, among many others.

Joan was a talented sewer who loved quilting and made many quilts through the years. She enjoyed watercolor painting, cycling, sailing, and skiing, and was often seen with her "Dog Walking" friends and family members whom she cherished spending time with throughout the years.

Joan will always be remembered as an excellent cook who spoiled us with endless batches of homemade cookies, lemon squares, and brown sugar-baked pecans during the holiday season.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday October 25 at St. Brigid Church, 1984 Mass. Ave. Lexington at 10am. Visitation at the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd. Lexington Wednesday immediately prior to the Mass from 9am to 9:45am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Interment Westview Cemetery, Lexington.
