John ("Jack") B. Pitkerwick, Jr., called Home to God on 1/03/2025 at age 83 while at CareOne, Lexington, where he had been since August 2020.  Born 3/10/1941, to the late John B. Pitkerwick, Sr. and Alexandria ("Linnie") M. (Rotondi) Pitkerwick, of Melrose, MA.

Survived by his sister, Jean M. (Rotondi-Pitkerwick) Myrner, niece Linda Donahue, nephew Niels Myrner, grandnephew Owen Donahue and grandniece Bailee Sue Donahoe, all of California, and many cousins in Massachusetts.

Jack grew up in Melrose, MA on East Foster Street, and attended Winthrop Elementary School, Coolidge Junior High School, and Melrose High School.  He was scheduled to graduate with class of 1959, however, he had to take a leave of absence due to illness, then returned to graduate with class of 1960. Jack — tall, lean and handsome — played football and hockey in high school, and a member of the Student Congress. He was an avid, professional skier for many years until a serious knee injury and surgery prevented him from continuing with that sport which he loved so much.

Jack was a gifted carpenter, gardener, and found solace in painting.  He loved country music, and especially loved being with Uncle Smoky on his farm in NH.

A friend commented:  "Jack had a difficult path in life but seemed to make the best of things.  He was a good and decent man."

He overcame alcoholism with much discipline and grace in his early 60s.  His mother was still living then to witness his major transformation giving her immense joy and peace.

He loved his nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and many cousins, and was always moved with deep concern, compassion and affection at the news of those who were ill and had died.  Jack had a special friendship with his cousin Susan Rotondi of Melrose.
