STELLING, John Dietrich, 83 of Cambridge, Massachusetts died suddenly in Boston on Friday, February 9, 2018.  A graduate of MIT and Cornell University, Mr. Stelling served as a 1 ^st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Ordnance Corps at the Redstone Arsenal.  Following the Army, Mr. Stelling began a career in engineering and went on to serve as President and CEO of the consulting engineering firm Thompson and Lichtner Co for 23 years, retiring in 2001.

Mr. Stelling leaves his beloved wife of 62 years, Valerie Clair Stelling, and his loving family including two daughters, Allison Stelling of Brookline, Massachusetts and Meredith Stelling of Seattle, Washington, his brother, Donald K. Stelling of Zurich, Switzerland and two grandchildren, Sophie Shank of Boston, Massachusetts and Christopher Shank of Kalamazoo, Michigan.

In keeping with John's wishes, services will be private.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice. A celebration of John's life will be announced at a later date.
