Obituary

Yanakis, John C. of Lexington, June 6, 2021. Beloved husband of Amelia (Antonaros) Yanakis. Loving uncle of Nicholas Milona of Chelmsford, and Michael Milona of North Billerica, and granduncle of Alexander Milona, Chris Milona, and Stephanie Milona.

A World War II Veteran, who saw service in the South Pacific including Okinawa as a member of the Navy – Seabees. Completed a bachelor's at Long Island University and worked as an accountant. He was an early employee of Marshalls and helped manage their Auditing Group at his retirement.

John was a friend to many and devoted his time to great organizations as a member and leader. John loved his church, the Masons (Riboni Lodge, Hellenic Square & Compass Clubs), the American Legion (George Menichios Post), and others. He loved old movies, going to the symphony, the arts, loved to laugh and make others laugh. Most of all he loved his wife Amelia, family and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held Friday June 11, St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Lexington at 10AM. Visitation at the Church immediately prior to the Service from 9AM to 10:00am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Nicholas Church at 17 Meriam Street, Lexington MA 02420 or to the American Cancer Society. Private interment, Belmont Cemetery.
