Beauchemin, Joseph "Gene" of Lexington passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at age 91. He was married to his loving wife, Jane (Darney) Beauchemin for 46 years, and was the son of the late Armand and Justina (Martin) Beauchemin of Cambridge and Somerville.
Gene was caring and giving to friends and family, enjoyed traveling and playing tennis. He honorably served in the U.S. Navy during WWll, and entered the Railway Mail Service in 1950. He retired from the U.S. Post Office in 1980. Gene was very dedicated to the town of Lexington as well as his Catholic faith. He was a chauffeur for the Grey Nuns in Lexington for many years. Gene enjoyed volunteering his time for multiple organizations including the East Lexington Historical Society and the St. Vincent DePaul Society at Sacred Heart Parish in Lexington. He will be missed by all he touched.
Gene is survived by his wife Jane Ann Darney, son Matthew and wife Rosalind of Watertown, daughter Marielle and husband Eric of Littleton, two grandchildren Aiden and Andrew and many nieces and nephews. His sister Claire Boeri currently resides in Woburn with her husband Louis. Gene is predeceased by brothers Arthur, Armand and sister Alice Wharton. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 20 at Sacred Heart Church 21 Follen Rd., Lexington at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Westview Cemetery, Lexington. The family will greet friends 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, April 19 at Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd., Lexington.
