Dr. Juan Manuel Pestana Nascimento of Lexington, formerly of Venezuela, September 16, 2025. Beloved husband of Maria Alexandra Ibanez. Loving father of Maria Teresa Pestana of Austin, Texas, Juan Andres Pestana of East Walpole, Manuel Pestana of Waltham, and Boris Ibanez of Lexington and Elena Ibanez of Lexington. Devoted brother of Jannet Pestana of Jacksonville, Florida. He is also survived by his nephew, Laurence.

Dr. Pestana had over 35 years of consulting experience in geotechnical and geotechnical earthquake engineering. Dr. Pestana spent 23 years as a professor in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at the University of California, Berkeley and was an Emeritus Professor of UC Berkeley and a Professor of the Practice at Tufts University.  Dr. Pestana authored or coauthored more than 150 research publications. He was also senior principal at Geosyntec Consultants in Acton, MA.

A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday September 20 at St. Brigid Church, 1984 Mass. Ave. Lexington at 1:00pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Donations in his memory may be made to Nuya (Mil Malagros) or to Sunantha Camila (On Board for Kids).
