Rutyna, Julie (Pettit) of Lexington, October 28, 2024 at 88 years of age.

Loving mother of Edward Rutyna of Fountain Valley, CA, David Rutyna of Acton, Eve Rutyna and her husband Anastasios Daskalakis of Belmont, and Christian Rutyna and his wife Jeanette Villa of Washington, D.C.

Devoted sister of the late Paulina Ciszek and Frances Nagel. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Brett and Alison Rutyna, Caroline and John Daskalakis, and Kiana Rutyna and by her much beloved niece, Nanci Nagel and her wife Danielle Bass, and nephew, Conrad Ciszek.

Julie was a graduate of Our Lady of the Presentation Academy and Cardinal Cushing College. Unfailingly friendly to all who crossed her path, Julie was an avid runner beginning in the 1970s before it was fashionable, especially for women.  Julie placed first in the Over-80 Division of The Army 10-Miler in Washington, D.C. She also enjoyed SCUBA diving, downhill skiing, and most of all walking every day. In addition to Brigham's butter pecan ice cream, she enjoyed chicken piccata and a glass of Merlot (with ice). She found her greatest joy in spending time with her grandchildren.

Funeral from the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Road. Lexington on Monday November 4 at 9am followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Brigid Church, Lexington at 10am. Visiting hours at the funeral home Sunday from 3pm to 6pm. Donations in Julie's memory may be made to Youville Place Lexington , where Julie lived happily for the last two years of her life. www.youvilleassistedliving.org
