Kenneth James Galvin, age 65 of Dunedin, NZ and Lexington, MA died suddenly on January 1, 2017. Ken was born in Dunedin, New Zealand to William and June Galvin on July 4, 1951. As a boy, Ken played rugby, built a motorcycle from scrap, and built a small boat, which meant later in life he could fix pretty much anything. At Otago University he studied computer science. Ken left on his "overseas experience" from NZ stopping in London for many years where he worked for Grindlay's Bank installing computer systems in Hong Kong, Singapore, Gambia, Kenya, and Athens. In Greece he met his wife Beth who was teaching at The American School, and they were married in New Zealand. A devoted father, daughter Grace was born in Philadelphia, and daughters Alice and Lucy in London where the family lived for 9 years. Ken built a software company with colleagues that settled trades for the London Stock Exchange, taking the role of Finance Director and studying at London Business School. Each year Ken returned to New Zealand, and each summer he could be found in Wolfeboro, NH. Ken enjoyed skiing in the NZ snowfields, the Alps, Utah, Colorado and New England with his family. Ken en-joyed riding his Harley-Davidson, especially in NZ on tour. An excellent cook, Ken liked nothing more than good food, good wine, good company - and All Blacks rugby. Ken kept his NZ citizenship and his Kiwi identity, attending an annual Hangi, making Pavlova, commemorating ANZAC Day, and being ever on the lookout for the perfect meat pie. In addition to his wife of 31 years and their three daughters, Ken is survived by his mother June Galvin of Dun- edin, NZ, his brother Noel Galvin of Worthing, West Sussex, England, sister Raylene Galvin of Dunedin, NZ, and sister Janice Galvin of Wellington, NZ. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on January 28, 2017 at Hancock Church, 1912 Massachusetts Ave, Lexington, MA.
