Lewis Caram, "Lew" to his friends and family, devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend, died after a full life, on May 5th. He was a resident of Lexington for 32 years. He was married to Jean Hughes Caram for 40 years. Lewis was born in Lawrence, Mass on October 14, 1945 to Elias Caram and Julia Nassar Caram. Lewis went to Central Catholic High School before attending Merrimack College, where he completed a BS in Business. He went on to begin a 50 year career in the retail and wholesale food business, most recently working for C&S Wholesale Grocers and McKinnon's Market in Salem, NH. Lewis was a devoted husband and father. He took great joy in spending time with his family, coaching both of his children in Little League, and making summer trips to Martha's Vineyard where he taught them each to clam. In his free time he loved to golf and play tennis. Those who knew him, both personally and professionally, know that he loved to tell stories and laugh while enjoying good food. Lewis is predeceased by his sister J. Elaine Dalton. He leaves his wife Jean Hughes Caram; his son, Benjamin Caram and his wife Samantha Caram; his daughter Alexandra Caram and her husband Christopher Nash; his sister and brother-in-law Claire and Henry Dembowski. He leaves three beautiful grandsons, Elias, Theodore and Morgan Caram. He leaves many friends, new and old. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to be made in his memory to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or Habitat for Humanity. Services will be held at Douglass Funeral Home in Lexington, Massachusetts. Friends and family are invited to visiting hours from 4pm-8pm on Friday, May 11th. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 12th at 10am. The family wishes to thank, from the bottom of their hearts, the many people involved in his care at Lahey Hospital. We will be forever grateful for their continual patience and gentle attention to Lewis.
