Lila Marie (Hibbard) Foye, 80, of Weymouth, MA and formerly Lexington MA, died peacefully October 21, 2022, at the South Shore Hospital after a hard-fought chronic illness.

She was the beloved wife of the late William O. Foye of Athol, MA, and later Lexington, MA. She is survived by son Kenneth G. Siddons of Westford, MA, and his partner Vanessa Young; son William Owen Foye, Jr. of Rockland, MA; sister-in-law Ellen Siddons of Camp Hill, PA; niece Selene Angier of Cambridge, MA; cousin Sheila Ainsworth of West Roxbury, MA; and many more cousins and dear friends. She was a dedicated and generous friend and family member. Her family meant everything to her — and she they.

Lila is preceded in death by daughter Karen Siddons; brothers John V. Hibbard, Jr. of Cambridge, MA and Stephen J. Hibbard of Newport, RI; and sister Elaine Richards of Stuart, FL.

Born in Boston and raised in Brookline, MA, Lila was the daughter of the late John V. Hibbard, Sr., of Alexandria Bay, NY, and the late Mary E. (Rafferty) Hibbard of Brookline, MA.

After graduating high school from Mount Saint Joseph Academy with honors, Lila's shining spirit and intelligence earned her a scholarship to Emmanuel College, where she completed her undergraduate studies in physics with distinction. Later, while raising two children on her own, she earned a Master's of Science in Physics at Boston College. During her graduate studies, she was among the few women at the time to take courses at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

In 1974, Lila began teaching at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences in Boston, where she would go on to meet her future husband, Bill. She was named Advisor of the Year by her students almost every year, and retired in 2004 as Associate Professor of Mathematics and Physics Emerita.

The arts and nature were also among Lila's lifetime passions. She and husband Bill were longtime patrons of the Boston Ballet and the theater. She loved reading, classical music, the movies, musicals, and, in retirement, she took to creative writing, including penning a mystery novel. Traveling abroad, Civil War history, the ocean, her dogs, long road trips, volunteering, and hiking the woods around the Quabbin Reservoir with Bill were also among her favorite pastimes and respites.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your charity of choice. Lila will be interred privately at Westview Cemetery in Lexington, MA, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
